Event overview
The Derby 50k takes place Saturday, Nov 29, 2025 in Ellerbe, North Carolina at the Derby Community Building, 1647 Jones Springs Church Rd. Course and logistics
The course starts and finishes in front of the Derby Community Building and is run counter-clockwise facing traffic. It consists of three loops of rolling hills on asphalt and dirt. The route is not closed to traffic. Turns and some straights are marked with yellow arrows painted on the highway and with posted signs; participants are responsible for following the markings. There is no cutoff time. Camping is permitted on the community building grounds. Participants are asked to minimize trash by using a hydration pack or other container.
Food, donations, and awards
Spaghetti plates are provided at the Derby Community Building and include salad, a drink, cake, banana pudding, and pies. A non-meat sauce option is available. The meal is free to runners; it is also open to the public for $10 per plate. The event requests donations of dog or cat food for Richmond County Operation Fix; a van will be onsite for donations. Proceeds from the meal support Derby community needs, the church, and the fire department. Awards are given to overall male and female finishers, first Richmond County male and female, and all finishers receive custom 4x4 inch medals.
