Event overview
The 20th Annual Walk the Fight & Run the Distance benefits the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center at Barrow Neurological Institute. The event is scheduled for February 7, 2026, at Tempe Beach Park, West Rio Salado Parkway, Tempe, AZ. The event is managed by StartLine Racing and includes both in-person and virtual participation options.
Event format and logistics
Distances and formats offered:
- 2 blocks - Fun Walk
- 4K (2.8 miles) - In-person Walk
- 5K (3.2 miles) - In-person Timed Run
- Virtual Walk option available for participants who complete the distance remotely and submit a photo.
Registered participants receive a custom event medal and a Dri-Fit tech t-shirt (there is an option to decline the shirt for a $5 discount). Age group awards are presented to the top three in each age group. The 5K uses chip timing with real-time results and event photos. Event features on site include a resource fair, a kids area, a photo booth, and a poster table. Team fundraising perks are available for teams that reach fundraising thresholds, including access to a private team tent and additional team rewards at higher levels.
Packet pickup is available at Road Runner Sports in Tempe on the Friday before the event and at Tempe Beach Park on event day. Wheelchairs, strollers, and wagons are welcome; leashed pets are allowed. Roller blades, skateboards, and motorized devices are not permitted on the courses. Registration fees start at $25 for walk options and $35 for the 5K; race-day registration has higher fees. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
