Western States Endurance Run
The Western States Endurance Run is the world’s oldest 100-mile trail race, starting in Olympic Valley, California, and finishing 100.2 miles later in Auburn, California. Established in 1974, the course traverses traditional lands of Indigenous Peoples and features over 18,000 feet of climbing and nearly 23,000 feet of descent. Runners experience diverse terrain including the high country of Emigrant Pass, the Granite Chief Wilderness, and the historic trails of California’s gold country, crossing the icy Middle Fork of the American River.
Supported by over 1,500 volunteers, the race is renowned for its challenging course and prestigious awards, including silver and bronze belt buckles for sub-24 and sub-30 hour finishes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
