About the race
The Wild Irish Run is a long-standing running event held annually in Guntersville, Alabama, typically on the Saturday closest to Saint Patrick’s Day. Celebrating its 46th anniversary in 2024, the event features a USATF-certified 10K course known for its fast, all-paved surface with small rolling hills, passing through downtown Guntersville and along scenic Lake Guntersville. A 5K race was added in recent years, also on a paved, scenic lakeside trail.
Hosted by the City of Guntersville Recreation Department, the race offers trophies and medals for top finishers, age division awards, and race packets with T-shirts and goodies. The event is recognized as one of Alabama’s oldest and top running events. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
