The Asheville Independence Day 5k is a community 5k run/walk held on July 4, 2026, at Pack Square Park, Court Plaza, Asheville, NC. The event supports Food Connection; $5 from each race entry will be donated to that organization. Strollers are permitted on the course; dogs are not allowed. A group discount applies: registering four or more people qualifies for a 15% discount.
Registration, awards and policies
Registration fees vary by date and are listed as inclusive of mandatory charges. The listing shows a current registration price of $44.79 and tiered pricing periods: Early, Early Bird (Oct 1 - Dec 31) $55.49; Early Bird (Jan 1 - May 31) $66.18; Summer pricing (Jun 1 - Jul 4). T-shirt and finisher medal are included with registration. Every participant receives a finisher medal; the event notes reclaimed wooden medals for 2026. Awards include Goodr sunglasses and a gift certificate for top finishers; podium awards for top three Male, Female and Non-Binary, plus Masters (40+), Grand Masters (50+) and age-group awards across standard brackets.
The event has a no-refund policy and does not allow deferrals. An enhanced refund protection program is offered through Race Roster but is not a guaranteed refund. In inclement weather the event may be postponed to July 11, 2026, at the race director’s discretion. Transfers to a virtual entry, another runner, or a different distance are allowed up to five days before the event using the transfer option. Packet pick up is scheduled Friday, July 3 (3:00 PM - 6:00 PM) at Wicked Weed Funkatorium and begins Saturday morning in Pack Square. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
