Event
The Chestnut Chase is a trail running event scheduled for November 9, 2025, in Canton, North Carolina at Chestnut Mountain Nature Park. The race distance is 10K. Registration closes on November 7, 2025. The event is a fundraiser; proceeds will support NCMTR and the Chestnut Mountain Foundation.
Course and logistics
The course starts with an approximate 600-foot climb in the first two miles on Papertown Express, continues with rolling hills on the Old Timer trail, and returns with a downhill section to the finish. The course uses a lollipop layout with a single aid station located at the intersection of the loop, reached near mile 1.5 and again near mile 4.6. The aid station will provide water, light snacks, and backcountry medical support.
Parking is on-site and supported by the Town of Canton. Timing will be manual; bibs are not chipped and must be worn visibly for visual confirmation of finish. A make-up date, Sunday November 23, 2025, is reserved in case the event is postponed due to weather or trail closures. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
