Black Forest Ultra
The Black Forest Ultra is a challenging 100K trail race held in North Bend, Pennsylvania, deep within the scenic Pennsylvania Wilds. Known as one of the toughest ultras in the Northeast, it features a midnight start and a strict 19-hour cutoff. The course is a lollipop loop with over 13,400 feet of elevation gain, traversing diverse forests including pine, hemlock, and red spruce amid peak fall colors.
The route reverses direction annually, shifting the major climbs between the front and back halves. The race forbids crews, pacers, and spectators, adding to its demanding and solitary nature. It is part of the Pennsylvania Triple Crown series and the exclusive Blacklist challenge. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
