About the race
Black Forest Ultra is a 100K trail ultramarathon held in North Bend, Pennsylvania, in the Pennsylvania Wilds. Marketed as a diabolically epic event, it features a nocturnal start with no crews, no pacers, and no spectators. The course is a lollipop with over 13,400 feet of total elevation gain, including climbs exceeding 1,000 feet in under a mile, and it reverses each year so the elevation distribution shifts.
Runners traverse diverse forest types—pine plantations, giant hemlocks, and red spruce—amid peak fall colors. The race serves as the culmination of the Pennsylvania Triple Crown and the Blacklist series. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
