Event and course details
The Black Hills 100 takes place June 26-27, 2026 in Sturgis, South Dakota. The event uses the Centennial Trail (Trail #89) and the Deerfield Trail (Trail #40). The 100-mile event is an out-and-back that begins and ends at Sturgis City Park; organizers note the 100M is closer to 108 miles. Surfaces are mostly single-track dirt and rocky trail, with some old logging roads, a stretch of ATV trail, and minimal pavement. Events are held under special use permits with the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management. Average late June temperatures are listed as a high of 79°F and a low of 53°F, with a chance of afternoon thunderstorms.
Elevation data are described as approximate and generated from GPS tracks. The 100M lists about 16,779 feet of elevation gain. The 100M has eight aid stations (seven visited twice) and allows drop bags at Elk Creek, Dalton Lake and Silver City. All events finish at Sturgis City Park.

Buses transport runners from Sturgis to the various start locations. Registration runs from September 1, 2025 through May 31, 2026.
