Black Hills Veteran March and Marathon
Set in the Black Hills of South Dakota, the Black Hills Veterans March and Marathon traverses the Mickelson Trail through pine forests, across converted railroad bridges, and through four rock tunnels on crushed limestone and gravel. Distances include a 110-mile endurance march from Edgemont to Deadwood, a 26.2-mile Full March/Marathon from the Rochford trailhead to the Days of ’76 Rodeo Grounds, and a 16-mile Mini March from the Dumont Trailhead to Deadwood. A Virtual March option mirrors 26.2 miles.
The event honors veterans and donates proceeds to local veterans organizations. It offers multiple divisions—individual, team, civilian and military—with rest stops every 3-5 miles and scenic, challenging terrain. Test Your Endurance – Exercise Your Patriotism!.
