The Day of the Dead 5K & 10K is scheduled for Sunday, October 25, 2026, in Fair Oaks, California. The event base is Wild Runners Fair Oaks at 10149 Fair Oaks Blvd, Fair Oaks, CA 95628. The weekend includes packet pick-up on the day before the race and on race day at the Wild Runners location. The event includes a post-race expo and festival with food vendors and community partners. Participants receive a short-sleeved event shirt, finisher medal, bib with timing device, safety pins, and a coupon redeemable for one free tamale at the post-event expo.

Course, awards and rules
The 5k course begins in Old Fair Oaks Village, includes a half-mile downhill through the village and over a bridge, follows a 3.2-mile out-and-back segment along the American River Trail, and finishes with an approximate half-mile ascent back to the finish area. The course is entirely on paved roads and trails and is noted as accessible for strollers.
Awards are given at a post-race ceremony. Overall male and female winners and the top three in each age division receive prizes, with specified gift card amounts for the top three overall. Kids’ race top finishers receive special prizes and all other kid finishers receive medals. Event guidelines include visible bibs, no unregistered participants, no bicycles, dogs allowed on leash after a waiver, strollers welcome, headphones discouraged, and no refunds.
