Event overview
The Folsom Lake Sweetwater Trail Run is scheduled for Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Folsom Lake State Recreation Area, Salmon Falls Parking Lot in El Dorado Hills, CA. Distances offered include:
- 50K - Out & Back, 3,356 ft ascent
- Trail Marathon - Out & Back, 3,001 ft ascent
- 30K - Out & Back, 2,106 ft ascent
- Half Marathon - Out & Back, 1,555 ft ascent
- 9 Mile - Out & Back, 990 ft ascent
- 10K - Out & Back, 734 ft ascent
- 5K - Out & Back, 259 ft ascent
- 1 Mile - Out & Back, 114 ft ascent
- Kids Run - Out & Back, 19 ft ascent
Online registration is available through the morning of the race and race day registration and bib pick-up are offered on site. Entry fees are non-refundable; credits or transfers to future events may be available if the organizer is notified before race day. Active military and first responders receive a 15% discount. Race shirts are available for purchase and all finishers receive a commemorative medal.
Course and support
The course is approximately 95% single-track and 5% dirt road, primarily following the Sweetwater Trail along Folsom Lake. Terrain includes gently rolling hills, some technical sections, small paved portions, oak trees, and grass. Courses are marked with ribbons, signs, and gypsum. There is a creek crossing where participants may get wet feet and slippery rocks are present. Aid stations and water stops are provided on longer routes, drop bags may be delivered to specified aid stations, toilets are available at start/finish and on course, and at least one EMT will be present.
