Event overview

The Life Time Leadville Trail Marathon & Heavy Half takes place in Leadville, Colorado on June 27, 2026. The races use trails and roads through the historic mining district on the east side of Leadville. Minimum age on race day is 16 for the marathon and 14 for the Heavy Half. Registration opens 1/9/26. The marathon serves as a qualifier for the Leadville Trail 100 Run and there are 35 qualifier coins available at the event.

Distances:

  • Marathon: 26.4 miles
  • Heavy Half: ~15.4 miles

The courses are out-and-back on dirt roads and single track, topping out at Mosquito Pass at roughly 13,185 feet. Published course stats for recent years list the marathon with about 6,167 feet of elevation gain and a high point near 13,179 feet, and the Heavy Half with about 3,421 feet of gain and a high point near 13,169 feet. The course may have snow and will be marked with fluorescent pink-and-black ribbon and flour arrows.

There are seven aid stations on the marathon course and three on the Heavy Half, offering water, sports drink mixes, gels, bars, chews, and assorted foods. Crews and spectators are allowed only at the start/finish area and Resurrection Aid Station. All athletes and crews must park at community parking lots and use shuttles or other transport to the start; there is no parking at the startline.
