Event overview

The Mineshaft 10k is scheduled for 4/04/2026. The event is limited to 100 participants. Registration will open in November. A virtual entry option is available for a separate fee and counts as one RNUTS qualifying race; virtual registrants will receive a race shirt if registered by 3/11/26, otherwise they will receive a Mountain Junkies LLC Hoo Rag.

Course and logistics

The trail course uses part of the Hellgate 100k route (miles 47-52, run in reverse) on the Glenwood Horse Trail between Bobletts Gap Road and the Bearwallow trailhead. Runners follow about 1 mile on a dirt road, then a steep 0.3 mile climb onto the Glenwood Horse Trail, with roughly 5 miles remaining on the trail. The route has rolling terrain and includes rock gardens near the 5 mile mark and a long descent in the final 1.5 miles. Due to limited parking, the event will provide bus shuttles from the race headquarters to the start, and all runners must ride the provided buses; there will be no parking or spectators at the start. Parking at the day use area is limited and carpooling is encouraged.

Registration, packet pickup, awards and rules

Registration fees are tiered, ranging from $35 to $50 depending on date. Packet pickup is scheduled the two days before the race at local pickup locations and at the Bearwallow Day Use Area on race day. Awards go to the top three overall male and female finishers, first place masters male and female, and the top three in 13 male and female age groups. Race rules include no dogs, visible race numbers on the front, following the marked trail, no amplified music, and maintaining awareness when using personal headphones. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
