Event overview
The Sy-5K takes place on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Rose Rudman Park, 450 Shiloh Rd., Tyler, TX 75703. The event has a science fiction theme and offers multiple participation options. Distances and options include:

Registration fees listed are $30 for the 5K, $15 for the 2 Mile, and $40 for the Virtual Option. The Kid's Dash is free to enter; add-on purchases (t-shirt, finisher medal) are available for dash participants.
Awards, registration and charity
Registration for the 5K and 2 Mile includes an event-themed participation t-shirt and a finisher medal; registrants are advised to register by January 3 to guarantee t-shirt size. The 5K is eligible for age group awards; age groups are awarded four deep in male and female divisions from 0-4 up to 80+. Overall and masters/grand masters divisions will receive overall medals. Awards will be distributed at the event and will not be shipped.
The 2 Mile is an untimed event with no age group awards but will still provide finisher medals and shirts. The Virtual Option includes shipping of the shirt and medal the week of the race. The organizer supports charities, including Encounter Church (Fate), which will receive 15% of profits and 100% of donations. Volunteers receive a code for a free race entry as an acknowledgement.
