Event details
The Walk & Wag for One Health takes place on November 1, 2025 at The Grove at Heritage Square, 1211 Ruth St, Sulphur, LA 70663. This is the 6th annual event held in celebration of International One Health Day and to raise awareness of the interrelationship of human, animal, and environmental health. Event proceeds support local health education initiatives and One Health research at the NCSU Intracellular Pathogen lab.

- 3K Fun Run (open to people and dogs)
- Virtual 5K or 3K option
Registration fees start at $35. A $35 registration period from 8/21 to 10/5 includes a shirt; late registration from 10/6 to 10/31 is $40 and does not include a shirt; walk-up registration on event day is $45. Price increases after October 31, 2025 for in-person events.
Program, activities and dog rules
The day includes a One Health Fair with three main zones: Kids Zone, Dog Zone, and Educational Zone. The Kids Zone features an inflatable activity, animal face painting, hands-on educational activities, and pansy planting. The Dog Zone offers a photo booth, best trick and costume contests, therapy dogs, and on-site dog adoptions handled through Calcasieu Parish Animal Control. The Educational Zone covers zoonotic and vector-borne disease prevention, proper tick removal techniques, vaccines, mental health benefits of nature, environmental health, chronic disease prevention, and wildlife conservation. LifeShare will host a blood drive the same day.
Rules for dogs include one dog per person, minimum age six months, proof of rabies vaccination, no females in heat, no retractable leashes, leashes maximum six feet, and removal of dog waste. The race director may refuse entry or remove a dog if it is hazardous to others. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
