Event

The Duncan Ridge Trail 50K/30K takes place at Vogel State Park in Blairsville, Georgia on November 22, 2025. The event offers two distances:

  • 50K
  • 30K

The race uses the Coosa Backcountry Trail and the Duncan Ridge Trail and starts and finishes at Vogel State Park’s Lake Trahlyta. Proceeds are returned to park volunteers.

Course and logistics

The 50K is an out-and-back route that follows the Coosa Backcountry Trail north out of the park, crosses Highway 180, then continues on the Duncan Ridge Trail to Fish Gap (turnaround for 50K). The 30K follows the same initial section but turns onto FS 39 at White Oak Stomp and returns via Wolf Pen Gap and the Coosa Backcountry Trail. All running is on trails except for a 1/4 mile paved section inside Vogel State Park. The finish line is on the bridge leading to shelter #1 under the Duncan Ridge banner.

The course has more than 10,000 feet of elevation gain. The race has a 10-hour overall course limit with intermediate cutoffs, including a turn-around cutoff at mile 15.5 and a cutoff at mile 27.5. There are seven aid station locations; four primary stations are on the outbound route and three are used on the return for the 50K. Aid stations provide water, sports drink, and snack items. Runners may switch to the 30K option at the second aid station if they inform an aid station volunteer. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
