About the race
The Georgia Death Race is a 74-mile trail ultramarathon from the Byron Herbert Reece Heritage Center in Blairsville to Amicalola Falls State Park. The rugged course features about 16,000 feet of climbing and 16,000 feet of descent, testing even seasoned runners. A unique ritual requires carrying a 1-pound railroad spike for the duration; finishers place the spike in the coffin and receive an engraved spike.
The race is a Western States qualifier. It is described as one of the East Coast’s most watched and notorious ultras and is known for strict cutoffs and no pacers, with optional volunteer requirements. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
