The Georgia Death Race
The Georgia Death Race is a challenging 74-mile trail ultramarathon held in Blairsville, Georgia, starting at the Byron Herbert Reece Heritage Center and finishing at Amicalola Falls State Park. The course features approximately 16,000 feet of both ascent and descent, making it a grueling test of endurance. Runners must carry a 1-pound railroad spike throughout the race, which they ceremoniously throw into a coffin upon finishing, earning an engraved spike as a memento.
Known as one of the toughest and most popular ultras on the East Coast, the race has a 25-hour cutoff and does not allow pacers. It also serves as a Western States qualifier for runners finishing under 24 hours. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
